Bendigo Easter Fair Parade
Sunday 24th April 2011
Freemasonry in Bendigo Stepping into the future.
W.M. Bro. Mal Pethybridge of Bendigo City Lodge No. 714 and VMMA member proudly carried the Lodge Banner in the Parade.
We have been shrouded in mystery for many years and as Freemasons, are now working towards making it known that “YES” we do have secrets just like everyone, but it is the other side of Freemasonry that we would like people to know about. We support many charities and school scholarships, and assist in natural disasters, both on a local level and interstate.
The number of people who lined the streets to watch the parade was unbelievable.
Bendigo City Lodge in conjunction with the VMMA decided to participate in this years Bendigo Easter Fair Parade. This parade has been in existence since 1871. Grand Lodge helped to obtain the participation of the Variety Bash vehicle No 321, with a Trike motorcycle, and 5 bikes as well as a local Lodge Banner which added colour to the event, and created a great display, for the public to see.
Thank you to W.M. Bro. Mal Pethybridge of Bendigo City Lodge No. 714 and VMMA member for seeing the foresight to promote Freemasonry in the Bendigo Easter Fair Parade.
GL supplied pamphlets to be handed out, along the parade route, which were well received. Spectators stepped forward to obtain the information on Freemasonry and it appears as though we have a couple of favorable enquiries for joining as a result.
Bob must have had a hard day in the office!!!!!
We were accompanied by several members of other Lodges in the area. It is the view of the members taking part that we should enter again next year with a bigger presentation, with more members involved, and a more visual and vibrant display.
Car 321 joined in the promotion of Freemasonry in the parade.
We would like to thank the Variety Bash boys for their support, and Grand Lodge for their invaluable assistance to us in organizing this event.
Yours Fraternally
